You will need to identify the 5 main numbers on your Mega Millions ticket – the ones between 1 and 70 (in white in the results section above).
- 2. Check the Mega Ball
Then you will have to check the additional number, the Mega Ball (in blue in the results section above).
- 3. If these 6 numbers match, you win Mega Millions jackpot!
All 6 numbers match = you win Mega Millions’ Jackpot!
However, even if you didn’t guess ALL the numbers, we advise you to double check and see if you didn’t win one of Mega Millions’ 8 secondary prizes! You can win a Mega Millions prize by guessing only 2 of the main numbers!
- 4. Check the date of the draw
Make sure to check the date of the draw and make sure it matches the date of your ticket (in red above). Good luck!
- Mega Millions numbers are not interchangeable: you need to check the main numbers and the Mega Ball number separately because these numbers are not interchangeable as they are pulled out from different drums.
- The Mega Millions Megaplier number is pulled out during the Mega Millions draws, but you won’t find it on your ticket: when getting your Mega Millions ticket, you can tick the Megaplier multiplier box as to activate this feature. However, this option only multiplies the secondary prizes by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times depending on which Megaplier was drawn.
How are the Mega Millions numbers drawn?
Gravity pick machines are used to randomly draw Mega Millions numbers as it is the safest and most random system for lottery results. Draws are live, and the balls are in full sight at all times. As a side note: all balls weight exactly the same as to have an equal chance of being selected.
The 5 main numbers are drawn first from the main drum including 70 balls. Then, the Mega Ball is drawn from a separate drum, including 25 balls. In the end, the Megaplier is drawn from a separate drum of 15 balls including Megapliers x2, x3, x4 and x5.
